The City of Toronto is opening a new family shelter at 2 Buttonwood Ave., and we’d like your ideas for its name.

We are looking for a name that is welcoming, positive and reflective of the local community. Whether inspired by nature, local history, community values, or neighbourhood features, we encourage you to share your idea.

The City welcomes ideas from everyone, and will pay special attention to names suggested by members of the local community.

The survey is open for feedback until 11:59pm on November 17, 2026.

All submissions will be reviewed to ensure they meet the City’s naming guidelines. Eligible names will be reviewed by a Shelter Integration and Partnership (SIP) Table made up of local residents and organizations, City staff and the local councillor, who will then provide up to three name options and one recommended name to Toronto Shelter and Support Services, who will make the final decision.
