The Church-Wellesley Business Improvement Area has received a permit from the City of Toronto to create a pedestrian-only area on Church Street, between Wellesley Street and Alexander Street. From June 19 to August 21, 2026 Church Street is closed to motor vehicle traffic while remaining open to pedestrians.

The City is monitoring the impacts and outcomes of the Pedestrianization Pilot.
