About the project

Enabling new mid-rise housing is a key component of the City of Toronto's overall housing strategy and the goal of creating a more diverse housing supply. Over the past 2 to 3 years, the City has advanced a number of policy and zoning initiatives that now permit mid-rise housing in more locations across the city. The focus of the Mid-Rise Housing Implementation Initiative is to support that policy work by addressing barriers and challenges that impact the viability of delivering new mid-rise housing (5- to 14-storeys).

About this survey

The City of Toronto City Planning Division is collecting information to help plan for the future of mid-rise housing (5- to 14-storeys) in Toronto. The City is particularly interested in exploring potential updates to the following and how they are addressed in new mid-rise developments:

  • Indoor and outdoor amenity space; and
  • Bicycle parking.

This survey is being shared with property managers and/or developers of mid-rise buildings (rental and condominium) across the city. Please note that this research focuses only on improving the design of new buildings and will not result in changes or new requirements for existing buildings.

This survey should only take a few minutes. Please respond by December 4, 2026. While responses are confidential and reported in aggregate form only, building addresses are collected to help categorize findings geographically. Please do not include any personal information in your responses. Responses provided will be analyzed collectively.
